Hey, guys, here with a review and an install of the Krona Performance Cat-Back Exhaust System, for the 2015 and up EcoBoost Mustang. We're gonna be talking about a few different things with this exhaust today, but mainly we'll talk about the sound of the system and the install. The install for this is easy. It's a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter, but I'll get more into that later. The Krona Performance Cat-Back Exhaust System is going to be a good option for the S550 EcoBoost owners that are looking for a stainless-steel cat-back system that's gonna have volume, but that isn't gonna be raspy or have interior drone. We all know by now that a lot of after-market exhausts for the EcoBoost tend to play up the sound of a four-cylinder turbo car with a very loud and raspy note, but this system offers more of a tuned sound. It's also a modular system, and it's made from great materials. So, if you're looking for something a little bit different than what a lot of the other cat-back options are offering, this could be a good option for you. This cat-back offers a three-inch to two-and-a-half inch Y-pipe, which is going to take the place of the factory resonator, and bump up the diameter of the rest of the exhaust from two-and-a-quarter inch to two-and-a-half inch. This system is a modular system, so it's going to come with this adapter that'll work with both the factory downpipe and an after-market three-inch downpipe, depending on where you are with your modding. And the mufflers here are straight-through mufflers, but they're still gonna give more of a tuned sound than anything else. With that being said, even though this cat-back does give a tuned sound, and by that I mean it doesn't have sound distortion or a raspiness to it, I will say that this isn't really a quiet system either. You guys heard in the sound clips, but this cat-back has a deeper sound than most other cat-backs for the EcoBoost. It still has volume, but it doesn't give a distorted sound. Even though this isn't obnoxiously loud, this system is louder and more free-flowing than the stock exhaust, for sure. Like with most exhaust systems on the EcoBoost that open up flow and reduce back-pressure, that means you'll be getting a lot more turbo noise. You can hear the turbo spool, and you get a lot of blow off noise as well. So if that's something you're looking for, then you won't be disappointed. I feel like this system does a better job than most at enhancing the sound of the EcoBoost without making it unpleasant, but it does still give a touch of that typical four-cylinder turbo car sound though. Now, in all honesty, I don't think you'll totally be able to get away from that sound, considering that's what the EcoBoost is, but there are some other exhaust options, like this one here, that offer a different type of sound. All that being said, I'm gonna call this a three out of five on the loudness scale, with the stock downpipe in place. This will get louder if you have an after-market downpipe. This is a really simple setup, with the Y-pipe to straight-through mufflers, but one of the upsides of that is that you end up reducing a lot of the weight in the exhaust system. You don't have a heavy mid-pipe anymore, so there's a little chunk of weight gone there. This cat-back weighs 28 pounds, which is 32 pounds lighter than the stock exhaust. As far as materials, you're looking at 304 stainless-steel, so you can't get any better material-wise. The 304 stainless is gonna offer the most corrosion resistance, and it's gonna have a longer life than some other materials, like aluminized steel for example. And one other thing that I wanted to mention about this system is that since it is modular, which means you can upgrade your exhaust in stages, you're gonna get this adapter to step up from the two-and-a-quarter inch to three-inch, since your cat-back is three inches. If you have your stock downpipe, you run the adapter until you're ready to upgrade to a three-inch Krona downpipe. And what I like about this here is that this kit gives you a three-inch V-band clamp for when you do hit that time. You'll have everything you need right here in this kit for when you upgrade, and V-band is always a better way to go. When it comes to price, you can expect to pay between $1,100 and $1,200 for this exhaust. This does sound expensive, I know, but honestly, all exhaust for the S550 is expensive. What I like about this system, for this price, is that it isn't the most expensive one out there. It's stainless-steel, and it's that modular system, so you have options if, or when, you want to upgrade. Other systems out there will lock you into one diameter, or another, which makes future modding a little bit more difficult, but Krona doesn't do that to you. The install for this system is easy, I'm gonna call it a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and about two hours in the garage. You don't have to do any cutting, or modify anything, to get a cat-back installed on an S550. This is considered a direct bolt-on item. All that you're really gonna need is a socket set, and a lift would certainly make things easier, but the job can be done on stands as well. You're gonna be replacing everything from your downpipe back, and an extra set of hands can make things easier for you here. You'll be moving over your hangers to the new cat-back, so I would recommend taking them off with the factory exhaust when you drop that. You'll just make the swap a little bit easier. The whole cat-back can be dropped as one big piece, which is why an extra set of hands can really help here. The new system will come with new clamps for you, so you don't have to worry about that. When you go to install your new setup, it'll probably be easiest to leave everything loose until you have it all lined up, and then tighten it down. Wrapping things up with the Krona Performance Cat-Back Exhaust, this is a modular cat-back that will allow you to upgrade in stages, leaving you the option of never upgrading your downpipe, or picking one up later on. This is a stainless-steel three-inch to two-and-a-half inch system with straight-through mufflers to give more of a tuned sound, and no interior drone at all.

The Sound of Power. Add an aggressive and intimidating tone to the sound of your 2015-2017 EcoBoost Mustang with a Krona Performance B.A.M.F. (Bolt-on And Modular Function) Cat-Back Exhaust System. This Krona Cat-Back will give your turbocharged Mustang a much more aggressive sound without any annoying cabin drone or harsh, ear splitting rasp. A Krona Performance Cat-Back is ideal for those who don't want to upset their neighbors while out enjoying a cruise around town.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Not only will a Krona Performance Cat-Back improve the sound of your Mustang, but it will also improve its exhaust flow as well. This Cat-Back features a 3" to 2.5" Y-pipe, that eliminates the bulky factory mid pipe resonator, and replaces the restrictive 2.25" factory piping with mandrel-bent 2.5" tubing. Together with a pair of high flow straight-through mufflers this Krona Cat-Back will significantly improve the exhaust flow of your Eco-Boost Mustang when compared to the stock cat-back system.

B.A.M.F. (Bolt-on And Modular Function). By being a modular design you can pick and choose which Krona Performance exhaust components to install based on your needs or budget. You can install a full turbo-back system in one shot or build one over time as money allows. It does not matter if you choose a Downpipe, a Cat-Back, or a full Turbo-Back, all of the correct adapters are included so that all these kits will work together with both factory and Krona exhaust systems.

Stainless Steel Construction. Krona Performance proudly manufactures their exhaust systems right here in the USA. This Cat-Back is constructed from 0.065” thick mandrel bent T304 stainless steel tubing for superior strength and long lasting corrosion resistance. The included straight through mufflers end with mirror polished double wall rolled 3" tips that have been laser etched with the Krona Performance logo for impressive good looks.

Lightweight. Weighing in at approximately 28 lbs, the Krona Performance B.A.M.F. Cat-Back is 32 lbs lighter than stock exhaust. This makes the Krona Cat-Back a great choice for track and drag racers looking to shed unwanted weight in the pursuit of quicker times.

Direct Bolt-On Installation. Krona Performance engineered their B.A.M.F. Cat-Back to be a direct bolt-on upgrade replacement for your Mustang's factory exhaust. There is no cutting or extra modifications required. Installation of this Krona Performance Exhaust can be completed in about a two hours with just basic hand tools.

Application. This Krona Performance B.A.M.F. 2.5" Cat-Back Exhaust System is specifically designed to fit 2015-2017 EcoBoost Mustangs equipped with the turbocharged 2.3L in-line 4-cylinder engine. Intended for use on EcoBoost Mustangs with the factory 2.25" down pipe or a Krona Performance 3" Down Pipe Kit installed.
