Sports Series Oil Cooler Upgrade Kit
Listed at $895, the Oil Cooler Upgrade Kit is finally available at Extreme Powerhouse. The kit reduces the high oil temperatures that N55 engine produces which helps reduce oil breakdown while improving the longevity of your car. They are much larger than the stock oil coolers. The Upgrade Kit has over 350% larger capacity than the factory oil cooler! The Sports Oil Cooler has a total of 144 cubic inches of core! The less effective factory oil cooler has 41 cubic inches.
It is available with no finish or Type III Hard Black Anodizing. The hard anodizing helps improve durability of intercooler fins reducing damage from road debris.
The enclosed box with venting louvers protects oil coolers from road debris without sacrificing airflow.
The Black Anodize choice features a high Quality Goodrich AN Fitting. There are no chinese made fittings used on this product. The cooler has High End Goodrich Fittings and Stainless Steel braided Oil Lines
It retains the factory oil heatsink enabling addition cooling cap. The cooler includes optional Aluminum Shrouding to direct airflow through the oil coolers for improved efficiency.
We all know that the N55 engines run extremely hot. This is because of their turbos. After a few minutes of spirited driving, you may realize that your temperature is rapidly rising. Most cars will barely pass the 230 mark, which should alarm you. As oil temperatures get too high, thermal degradation occurs. This is when the oil starts to lose viscosity due to heat and start to break down and becomes more susceptible to oil breakdown. An internal combustion engine like the N55 engine, imparts high shear forces on the motor oil, which is sandwiched between two rotating or sliding forces under load and heat. To greatly reduce malfunctions, lower your operating oil temperatures.
The M235i/335i/435i/M2 comes from the factory with a small oil cooler. The Sports Series Oil Cooler system features a large cooler. The Sports Series Oil Cooler comes out to 144 cubic inches of core which is 3.5 times larger than the factory unit each!
The oil coolers arrive standard with no finish just like the ER intercoolers. Evolution Racewerks are offering them with the Type III Hard Anodize Black for buyers who want the stealthy look. With ths type of finish, it is very hard to tell that there is an aftermarket oil cooler on the car. A big benefit of the Type III Hard Anodizing is that it makes the oil cooler fins harder and stronger, which makes it less prone to getting damaged from road debris. ER decided to opt for the Type III Hard Anodizing over the Type II color anodizing which is only aesthetics for this purpose only.
